Janice ROADHOUSE

ROADHOUSE, Janice  - March 26, 1962 – June 24, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Maureen Roadhouse, age 55, on Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital.

Janice is survived by her children Jon (Randa), Jennifer (Darren), granddaughter Acacia, Partner Steve LaPlante, mother Fay, siblings Dawn, Dwain and Tracy, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Janice was predeceased by her father Gordon Roadhouse, grandparents Tom and Edna Young, Ray and Margery Roadhouse.

Janice’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.  She was always proud of her children and their accomplishments. Janice resided in many cities throughout her life and always made a new life for herself and her children wherever she landed.  Although she moved frequently she was always able to make friends and connected with likeminded people.  Her friends would describe her as personable and friendly.  Most recently she resided in the Coombs area.  Janice could adapt in any situation.  She had many occupations including retail, road construction, and most recently Home Care.  Janice took pride in her career as a home care professional. Her sense of purpose and passion was developed by providing support and care for her patients.  Cooking, cleaning and providing care for the elderly and ill is where she found her niche.

Janice loved to cook and our family favorites included her ribs, spaghetti sauce, and hamburgers.  She loved music, dancing and was known to never turn down a shot of Sambuca.  She was known for her sarcastic sense of humor and would challenge anyone who was up for an exchange of wits.

She was taken too soon, but we know that she is at peace, that her life had purpose and we are grateful for the lessons and blessings that she gave us while she was here.

We would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the Nanaimo General Hospital for the kind, gentle and loving care of Janice and the family during her short stay.  In lieu of flowers we would ask that you consider making a donation to the Palliative Care Unit in her memory.
