William (Bill) Edgar Clark was a proud product of Wingham, Ontario where he was born on January 31, 1944, to Joseph and Marian Clark. Bill later moved to Kitchener and then Calgary, Alberta before settling in Nanaimo, BC. Bill enjoyed a long career in audio/visual work, including many years at Malaspina University-College (Vancouver Island University) until retirement. He had abundant passion for (in no specific order) golf, photography, music, marathons, pickleball, languages, travel, his dogs, and much more.
He was devoted to those he loved, as husband to Josephine Chong; father to Heidi (Brendan) and Peter; stepfather to Su-Yin (Kyle), Su-Mei (Ryan) and Mei-Yin (Trevor); grandpa/opa to Annaliese, Blake, Mei-Lin, Lily-Mei, Isla, Patrick and Owen; brother to Frederick (Janis) and Nancy (John); uncle to Johnathan (Stephanie), Catherine (Chris), James (Linda), Jeffrey (Robin), Christina, Jeremy, Nathan, Thomas (Kelly) and Julie (Robert); and friend to many people at home and abroad. Bill is predeceased by his son, Peter, and brother, Fred.
Bill passed peacefully at home in Nanaimo on October 19, 2025 after a battle against several conditions including the effects of Parkinson’s and perhaps of swinging golf clubs well after it was still a good idea, of which he would likely hold no regrets. A celebration of life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints on Wednesday, October 29th at 1 PM PST. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s society or the charity of your choice.
