Gone But Never Forgotten
William “Bill” Jeffrey
At the age of 67 years, surrounded by loved ones, Bill passed away after a long battle with Asbestosis on July 30. He was born on January 21, 1956 in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan to Anlaw and Ian Jeffrey. The family moved to Nanaimo in 1959 and Bill has remained a local to the Nanaimo community ever since. He enjoyed playing school sports and attended Cliffside Preparatory School for two of those years. With only a grade 8 education, Bill became a successful business man running Jeffrey Contracting and is best known as “The Concrete Specialist”. As a globetrotter Bill enjoyed spending several months at a time in Zihuatanejo Mexico before he discovered Buriram Thailand where he built his vacation home. Between working hard and good times at the pub, Bill restored a vintage 1954 GMC pickup truck which he proudly drove to Auto Shows & Shines on the Island during summer months. Every Thursday night, Bill’s buddies would drop by his industrial compound for a couple brewski’s to solve the world’s problems. The happiest day for Bill was meeting his 23 year old daughter for the first time. He was proud of Heidi Evans who was the jewel of his life. Bill is also survived by his sisters Marilyn Angel Wynn and Janine Jeffrey, his longtime friend Dan Mayes and devoted protege Premi Sandhu. Bill also leaves behind numerous friends that he always looked forward to having a beer with at the end of each day. Three words that best describe Bill’s character are generous, honest and focused.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bill Jeffrey on Sunday August 20 from 2-5 PM at the Jeffrey Compound, 2000 Boxwood Road, Nanaimo BC.
