Trevor FLAGG Obituary

Trevor Magnus Flagg, 33, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, Victoria, B.C.

Trevor was born on March 20, 1990 in Duncan, B.C., and grew up to be educated in the school of hard knocks, where he earned himself a reputation for urban adventure, street outreach, and small enterprise, specializing in organic gardening, environmental cleanup, and bicycle repair. He had a big heart and literally would give you the last sandwich in his backpack or the last dollar in his pocket if he saw you needed it. No matter how hard things got or how hard he struggled to make sense of the world, he always seemed to find a ray of sunlight in the darkness.

Trevor did not always manage himself in a manner for which he was proud, but the past three years saw him working diligently to come to terms with that and he found a sense of peace from doing that intensely deep personal work.

The Cowichan Valley was his birthplace and he loved it, as well as his “Shirley” until the very end. The art of his First Nations heritage resonated deeply in him and he treasured the many totems in Duncan. His greatest incentive to continue being well and doing well, was the opportunity to visit Cowichan and spend time with his family.

Trevor was predeceased by his birth father Theron Olender, grandfather Benjamin Flagg, and his grandfather Vaughn Steeves. He is survived by his grandparents Harvey and Marlene Olender, Mary Jane Cromarty (Robert Baron), and Dorothy Flagg; parents Stephen and Leah Flagg; siblings Taylor Flagg, Andrew Flagg, and Catherine Flagg; his nieces and nephews Aurora, River, Emmie, and Milo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the east coast to the west coast of Canada, all of whom were a beloved part of his world and identity.
