Thomas JONES Obituary

Thomas Williams Jones, Born 08/14/1938 in Nanaimo B.C. Peacefully passed on April 3rd from a short battle with cancer. Tom was born and raised in Nanaimo on his family farm. Tom loved fishing, hunting, camping, and the great outdoors. Tom and his daughter Dee-Lynda spent most of their days on their boat fishing China Creek. Tom enjoyed his time between his cabin at Hornlake, and watching his granddaughters play softball. Tom’s favourite place was up at the cabin where he was always on the beach around the fire, reminiscing about all the great memories. Tom was also the adopted Grandpa for the teams the girls played for. Tom was a well known coach for Softball, as well as YBC bowling. Tom could always be seen either on the soccer field on cold and wet Saturday morning or at the ball field where Sierra and Selena lived. Tom always had a smile on his face no matter where he was. Everyone knew that his best friend was his puppy Xena. They were well-known around the block as they went walking everyday. Tom’s kind heart and his affectionate smile touched many people. Tom worked as a grader at the old Mayo Mill and then ventured to working for MacMillan Bloedel in the number 3 wood room until his retirement. Tom was preceded by his parents Bill and Gladys Jones, Brother Bill, and mother and father in-law Alec and Gladys Carroll. Tom, survived by his loving wife of 57 years Sandra, along with his son Dean and daughter in-law Sandy Jones, as well as daughter Dee-lynda and son in-law Todd Spracklin. Tom also survived by his loving grandchildren Caleb, Ariel, Sierra, and Selena. As well as brother Gord, and brother in-law Raymond Carroll. But most importantly his partner in crime Xena. At his request there will be no service. If you wish in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Tom’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. The Family would like to thank all the lovely and helpful home support workers, as well as his doctor Dr.Beerman.
