It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Stewart ‘Tod’ McVeigh on May 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, following a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.

Tod was predeceased by his father Chuck; sister, Linda; and his beloved dog, Yumi.

He leaves behind his mother, Irene; brother’s Tom and Pat, sister, Marsha; their families, and Ilona, with whom he shared an enduring bond. He will be greatly missed by all.

Tod was truly a gentle and caring person. Family meant everything to him, and was one of the greatest joys of his life.

Tod spent many years as a proud HVAC mechanic and dedicated member of his union, Local UA516. In retirement, he enjoyed riding his bike and volunteering with the BC SPCA in Victoria, where he could share his love for animals.

The family extends heartfelt, thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers in Victoria and Nanaimo for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tod‘s memory may be made to the BC SPCA, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
