(1977--2020)
NELSON, Shannon Mae, 43, born in Calgary, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2020. Shannon is survived by her sister, Charmaigne Nelson, her brother, Troy Nelson, her mother, Karla, and her nieces, Mykala and Piper. She is further survived by a large extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving father, Robert Nelson.
Shannon was a highly intelligent individual with a razor-sharp wit, Windex-blue eyes, a love for animals, and a gift for writing. So clever and unusual was her humour that she amassed a large following on social media and received several invitations to manage the accounts of businesses.
Nevertheless, she was kind and compassionate and loved to sit around a fire with family and friends laughing and telling stories. Shannon shared an exceptionally close relationship with her sister, Charmaigne, and Charmaigne’s daughter, Mykala, who are both heartbroken by the loss. In the recent years, Mykala was Shannon’s greatest joy and preoccupation.
Shannon gave of herself unselfishly to several charities that benefitted women, especially women suffering from domestic abuse.
All who were blessed to have known Shannon during this life will grieve her passing. Hers was a life cut short, but still well lived and well loved.
Because of COVID-19, and the risks of gathering together, Shannon’s family requests that those who wish to celebrate her life do so in their own homes as they wish.
If any of Shannon’s friends, relatives, or admirers would like to make a donation to charity in memory of Shannon, Shannon supported the SPCA and Haven House in Nanaimo.
