Ronald MCKINNON

Ronald McKinnon, 75 , of Nanaimo, BC, passed away on Jan 30th 2024.

Ron was born in Windsor Ontario in 1948 to Bernard and Billie (Wilhelmina) McKinnon. In 1963 Ron travelled with his father by bus to Vancouver, BC, ahead of his mom and three sisters who arrived later that year in August.  The family lived at the Georgia Hotel until purchasing a house on Uplands Drive.  In his youth Ron loved hardball and was an excellent left-handed pitcher. In 1982 Ron welcomed a daughter Amanda. And in 1991 Ron married the love of his life Nancy.  In 2012 Ron and Nancy took the leap to leave their home in Delta, and move to Nanaimo to be closer to Amanda and her family. Throughout his life Ron was a poet and writer. Later in life Ron’s love of poetry and writing led him to self publish a book of poems in 2015.  

Ron was preceded in death by Parents (Bernard and Billie) and Sister Cathy, and is survived by his wife Nancy, Daughter Amanda Nielsen (Allan) and Grandchildren Mathias and Jedda.  His Sisters Sharon Beausoleil and Pam Turik (Rick), And Niece Stacy Ligtenberg (John), Nephews Joe and Robert (Shanna).  Along with Great Nieces and Nephews Teagen, Niya, Carter and Jenna.
