Roger DINELLE Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our brother Roger Dinelle on July 22, 2020 at his home in Duncan, BC. He was only 59 years old. Born March 22, 1961 in Kindersley, Sask. He lived most of his life in BC. Growing up in Prince George, and then as an adult attending UNBC where he acquired a Masters Degree, specializing in addictions and mental health. On the road to being a Mental Health Clinician, Roger proved he was a man of many talents and lived in several areas of BC, from Prince George to the Lower Mainland and the Island. He was a Red Seal Baker, and a fabulous cook working as the chef and as a deck hand on large fishing vessels, as well as on barges. Roger was a quiet and intelligent man; he was kind and empathetic in his role as a Clinical Counsellor. He really cared about people. He was passionate about knowledge, and some of his happiest times were while attending University. He loved learning, and studying and spending time with other academics. He travelled at every opportunity and loved the ocean and sailing. Ending up on Vancouver Island, in Duncan with a sailing sloop was a dream come true for him.

Roger is predeceased by his parents, Philip & Jeannine, brothers Ron, Larry, Bryan, and Mark, brother-in-law Leo Robinson and niece Andrea.  He is survived by his sister Sharon Robinson, and Carol (& Brian) DeWinter, and his sisters-in-law, Doreen and Giselle Dinelle, as well as many nieces and nephews. Roger was loved by his family and many friends. He will be missed very much.

A combined Mass on August 22nd, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. will be held at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Prince George, BC. to celebrate both Roger and our father Philip, who also recently passed.  A Celebration of Life will be held after the service at the Columbus Community Centre for family and close personal friends of the deceased.
