It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving father and husband Robert (Bob) Harmon Hunt, Aug 18, 2025, age 77.
Bob was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in Carnduff SK, where he learned to drive on the farm at age 12 and then began working on the highways by age 16. At 17, Bob moved to Halifax for six years and worked as a cook with the Navy and for CN Rail before moving back West and setting in Nanaimo BC, where he married the love of his life, with whom he was with for the last 42 years.
Bob will always be remembered for his love of the ocean, fishing and boating; his exemplary culinary skills in the kitchen; his mechanics and jack-of-all trades antics. Bob was a man of many skills and mastered the art of wine and shine making in his last 10 years with us.
Bob was full of never-ending uncanny stories, jokes, and tricks, loved his life and lived it to his fullest. Over the years, Bob could always be found playing a game of pool and beating everyone, sitting in the bar (especially on blues nights) or sitting next to the jukebox playing old tunes and reminiscing into the wee hours of the night with his wife by his side.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marg, his daughters Lisa, Beverley & Sheri as well as four grandchildren, multiple family in Alberta and many friends he made throughout the years. He was predeceased by both his brother and sister as well as his son Wilfred.
A celebration of life will be held Sept 21/25 in a private setting at his home and in lieu of flowers, contributions or donations can be made to either the BC cancer society (Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, Mycosis Fungoides) or to the Lung Association of Canada in the name of Robert Hunt. We want to thank all of the doctors and nurses who helped care for Bob over the last 5 years. You all helped keep him with us that much longer and we are very grateful to you for the extra time.
