MORGINN, Rikor (Thor)
December 11, 1947 – July 12, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rikor (Thor) on July 12, 2025.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba—though he liked to claim Trondheim, Norway—Thor was the beloved son of Helen McKinnon and Mel Moxness (both deceased). His formative years were spent in Manor Park, Ottawa, where his bold spirit and larger-than-life personality took root.
Known for his distinctive style, Thor was a fixture on Sparks Street in his younger days—often seen wearing cowboy boots and hats of many kinds, playing his harmonica in local nightclubs, or soaking in live music at Café Le Hibou. In the mid-70s he was drawn to Vancouver, BC later retiring in Cobble Hill, on Vancouver Island.
Thor held a deep love for the blues, a passion for theatre and classic cinema (especially Brando and McQueen), and a zest for life expressed in travel, boating, classic cars, fishing and RVs. With a career in sales, Thor earned recognition as one of the top Chrysler sales associates across Canada, as well as with Glendale motorhomes across North America.
A devoted husband to Cheryl (Breault), and a proud father to Lance (Kumiko) and Clayten (Amber). Thor was a cherished brother to Krissy (Guy), Ron (Diane, deceased), Ralph (Cindy), Nels (Diane), Mark (Denise), and the late Miles (Terry). He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of close friends—notably Jean-Marc Carisse and Lutz Luhmann, the Original Ottawa Rat Pack—who have shared a lifetime of memories.
Thor will be remembered for his warmth and unforgettable presence.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thor’s memory can be made to Parkinson Canada.
