Pamela Constance Kirk
October 9, 1945 – July 11, 2024
Pamela Constance Kirk, born October 9, 1945, in Comox, BC, to Kathleen and Geoff Kirk, passed away peacefully in Nanaimo, BC. She is predeceased by her parents and 3 brothers: John, David, Robert. She is remembered with deep affection by her loving sister, Margaret Moffat, and her many nieces and nephew as well as cousins in the UK and Thailand.
Pam’s education journey began at Courtenay elementary and secondary schools and continued at Queen Margaret's School in Duncan. In 1970, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of British Columbia. Her professional career as a library technician began at Langara College, spanned several universities and finished her tenure at Vancouver Island University (Malaspina College) Library.
She faced significant challenges throughout her life due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and related mental health struggles. She chose a quiet life and in her happiest times found joy in cultivating beautiful flowers and hanging baskets. She appreciated precision and meticulous organization and never shied away from a great apple box (because you never know when you might need it). Her closets and cupboards were a work of art with every item in its place. We always knew which presents under the tree were wrapped by Auntie Pam because she used a ruler and a straightedge to create the sharpest edges and perfect folds.
Pam treasured her connections with her Queen Margaret School alumni, who upheld their annual reunions and maintained their cherished friendships. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Pamela's life will be held privately, as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity supporting fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome research.
