Nancy Alma McPhillips

Nancy Alma McPhillips passed away on April 2, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Ron McKinnon, parents Patrick and Beryl McPhillips, and brother David McPhillips. Nancy grew up in Montreal, where she was fortunate to have loving parents, a doting older brother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby. She was an honour role student throughout high school and an accomplished ballet student. Nancy owned and operated a ballet school for children in Montreal where she was known as “Miss Nancy” and was much loved by her students. Nancy moved out to British Columbia in the late 70’s. She enrolled in the CGA program, graduating top of her class and was awarded the gold medal. She was very proud to be given the honour of being the valedictorian for her class. Nancy went on to have a successful career in finance in the banking industry. Upon retirement, Nancy and Ron moved to Nanaimo to be near Ron’s daughter Amanda and their grandchildren. They gave her a lot of joy over the years.  Nancy will be greatly missed by Amanda Nielsen (Allan), grandchildren Mathias and Jedda, her sister-in-law Kathleen Thomas and nephews Michael and Kevin McPhillips, sisters-law Sharon Beausoleil, Pam Turik (Rick) and her nieces, nephew's and cousins and grand-cousins.
