Michael Glen McLellan passed away tragically on Monday July 1st, 2024, in Nanaimo, BC. He was only 38 years old. Too young.
Michael was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 12, 1986. He was the only son of Brent and Cathy McLellan, his loving parents
Mike was a unique individual who had a big heart. He struggled his whole life and always had the strength to be himself in his own unique way.
Michael started out in grade school in Mountain View, next he went to Mount Benson and he graduated from Wellington High School. He was a soft-spoken boy and gentle spirit and rarely put himself first.
In his younger years he enjoyed sports and activities that were more individual in nature, such as skateboarding, camping and doing science experiments with his dad.
Michael was a natural entrepreneur and at the age of 8 started a candy store in his front yard where he turned a loan of $9 from his mom into $250 in a few short weeks. In another venture, he made juggling sticks that he sold in Christmas markets in and around the Nanaimo area.
After high school, Michael developed challenges with his mental health, that remained with him till the day he passed away. We tried for years to get Michael help and when it did come it just didn’t work for him. He needed more and different than what was available and offered. The world is not made for people like Michael.
He leaves a big hole in our life that will never be filled. Through our challenges we loved each other very deeply. He was our beautiful son, and we hope he has found a better place as he ends his journey on earth. He will live in our hearts forever. We love you, Mike.
He is survived by both his parents and his three sisters, Meagan, Chantelle and Amber McLellan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Celebration of Mike at the end. It will be held at the Rotary Fieldhouse, 850 Third Street for family and friends on Saturday July 27th 2024 from 2-4.
