Matthew Gabriel Adolphe
1971 -2026
Matthew Gabriel Adolphe was born in Calgary Alberta on July 02, 1971. He passed way on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 54.
Matthew held a master’s degree in communication management from the University of South Australia and a bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies and History from Laurentian University. He was a university instructor, an author, a keynote speaker, a corporate trainer and an experienced course facilitator who had taught and developed communication courses for several post-secondary institutions, consulting firms, and non-profit organizations in Canada. He had been teaching, consulting, and facilitating for over 30 years both in Canada and overseas in Korea, Japan, and Macau. He wrote two books: Canadian Workplace Culture: Mastering the Unspoken Rules and Would you hire you? Apart from his professional work, Matthew’s other activities included: political organizer, career coach, communication/media consultant, actor, radio DJ, studio musician and speech writer. He made history in Macau’s broadcasting industry by becoming the first English-language television news presenter in 2004. Matthew was a citizen of the Métis Nation with family and heritage deeply connected to the Red River Métis. He was a founding member of the Métis Nation of Ontario and served as its first post-secondary representative.
Left to mourn Matthew is his wife, Veronica; his children Joseph Edward, Edward Maximillian, and Gabriella Veronica; his brothers Paul Edward (Laurel) and Joseph Leopold (Jill); and his sisters Raissa Marie, Ruthanne, Jane Frances, and Elise Josephine. Matthew was predeceased by his father, Edward Phillip and his mother, Hazel Marie.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (301 Machleary Street, Nanaimo, BC) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 11.00 a.m.
