Mary Ellen McKee Thomas (nee Allan)
March 26 1934 – October 12 2024
After having lived a long, rich and fulfilling life, Mary passed away in Nanaimo, BC with family at her side.
Mary is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Gordon Thomas, her parents Andrew and Hazel (nee Dalgleish) Allan, and her five Allan brothers Jack (Pearl), Bill (Freida), Ed (Myrtle), Mac (Norma), and Alec (Beverly).
Mary is survived by her children Donna, Dan (Lyla), Heather, Jeff (Norlaine); eight grandchildren: five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives.
Born on a farm in Creelman Sask, she met and married Gord in Calgary June 18, 1955. Her four children and husband were the lucky beneficiaries of a never-ending variety of delicious homemade meals and the best bread and desserts. She was a creative soul that loved sewing, knitting, music, painting and pottery, not to mention her adventurous spirit in competitive swimming and coaching, travels worldwide and a cross-Canada bicycle tour at the age of 50.
She and Gord retired to Mill Bay, BC in 1994 where she made many friends, continued to pursue her artistic talents and enjoyed the warmer outdoor life in their home overlooking the Malahat.
