You sheltered me from harm.
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, Set me free
The finest years I ever knew
were all the years I had with you
I would give anything I own,
Give up my life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own,
just to have you back again.

Josephine Anne Foden
April 26, 1934 – November 11, 2024
Our family is sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother Josephine Anne Foden, 90, in Nanaimo, BC. She passed peacefully, with family members at her side.
Jo was born in Athabasca, Alberta. While attending high school, she met her husband (John) Allen Foden, who was working for the railway at the time. The two were married on December 21, 1952. They spent their years together living in northern Alberta, Ottawa, Victoria and Summerland, where Al passed away in 2008. After Al passed, Jo spent her time in Kelowna, Langley, and most recently Nanaimo.
Jo is survived by her children Tim (Kim) Foden, Steve (Betty) Foden and Phyllis (Wayne) Mattioda, her grandchildren Keegan, Caitlan, Rachel, Averyl, Kirsten, Megan, Kim and Anthony, as well as five great-grandchildren. Jo is also survived by her sister, Madeline Varin of Seattle and nephew Barry Varin of Missouri. Her gentle love and kindness will be dearly missed by all of us.
Jo worked as a home care worker in the Metchosin area, and as a seamstress at Bridal Lane Fashions. In addition to her tremendous sewing skills, she was accomplished at knitting and crocheting, and playing the piano.
A family service will be held in January 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Jo may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.
