It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Henry Gillich on January 9, 2025. Joseph passed away peacefully at home with his family close by. Joseph started his career working on the family farm in Saskatchewan and then working on neighbouring farms. Eventually Joseph joined the Canadian Pacific Railroad which allowed him to travel to various parts of Canada, most notably Revelstoke, Medicine Hat, Sparwood and eventually to Nanaimo where he retired in 1993.
> Joseph was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed curling both as a player and spectator. He could often be found reading a good book, playing a game of chess or cribbage, or working in his garage on a woodworking project. His kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.
> Joseph is survived by his wife Juanita, son Frank, daughter Anna, sisters Theresa, Agnes (Laurie), and Elizabeth, brothers Henry, Anthony (Arden), Bernhard (Connie), Alphonse (Marilyn), Andrew (Jean), and Leo (Mary), Aunt Josephine, cousin Melvin (Patricia), sister in law Joan, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Anna, his sister Catherine, and his brothers Wilfred and Dennis.
