It is with a sad, heavy heart we announce the passing of our son Jay. Jay was born in Victoria, BC, and grew up in Cobble Hill. The family moved to Thompson, Manitoba for two years before finding our way back to V.I. via Port Hardy. He graduated from Port Hardy Secondary School. Afterwards he eventually found his way back to the Cowichan Valley where he felt at home. Jay was often the life of the party and would do anything to make his friends laugh. He worked at Pacific Energy for ten years before leaving with a work related injury. He loved working with wood and tools and enjoyed experimenting on different projects. He was creative with his oil painting and his friends would buy their favourites. He enjoyed sports fishing and golfing. Cats and rescue dogs played a big part in his life, especially his big, gentle Mick Jaeger. Jay is survived by his father Gerry, his mother Carol, his brother Tom (Perla). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on V.I. and across Canada to the East Coast. Our sincere prayer for you Jay is that you finally find that inner peace you always yearned for. We trust that you will be warmly embraced by a loving and forgiving God on this, your new plane on your journey, through the shining light that leads you to your last and perfect home. Go in peace son. We love you. We will always remember your infectious laugh and your kindness towards people in need. Thank you everyone for your kind words and condolences. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 10th at Arbutus Ridge Golf Course. Doors open at 12:30 , service and sharing 1-3. In lieu of flowers family asking you to consider donations for foster care and medical bills for Jays beloved dog Mick.
