Gerald (Gerry) Victor Head passed away on March 16, 2026, at the age of 72, leaving behind a life well lived - full of music, adventure, and good company. Gerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn (née Buick); his only daughter, Kimberly (Matt); and his sister, Leslie Foster (Jeff; many nieces, nephew and friends. He was predeceased by his father, William Victor Head; his mother, Margaret Isabelle Head (née Reid); and his brother, Christopher Head.
Born in Ottawa on April 15, 1953, Gerry spent his childhood across Europe and in British Columbia. He went on to study at Camosun College and BCIT, training as an instrument man and survey technician, leading him to work for a variety of surveyors in the region. He later worked for Brentwood College and one of the local Mill Bay plazas, keeping things clean for all patrons to enjoy.
Gerry had a gift for music, whether he was sitting down at the piano or conjuring a new lyrical take on a well-known song. He was at home on the water, fishing and prawning – where he taught Kimberly how to pop the heads off the prawns, a task she would often run down to the docks to help do - in the Saanich Inlet, and watching the fireworks light up Brentwood Bay on Saturday nights with other boaters outside of Butchart Gardens. Summers often found him and Marilyn out camping together, and his Thursday card games were a weekly institution. Travel was a lifelong passion: Asia, Australia, Mexico, the Caribbean, and beyond, often with his Marilyn beside him. He was a storyteller, quick with a goofy anecdote, and he instilled in his daughter the phrase ‘if a story is worth telling, it’s worth exaggerating’ – something she continued to carry with her in her creative writing pursuits.
He will be extremely missed by his family and friends. At Gerry's request, there will be no service.
