Gailene Marie Benkhe (nee Kerr) passed peacefully from this life into the waiting arms of the Almighty, on Friday March 14, 2025, after a brief and brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones, with laughter, tears, music and memories shared at her bedside until she departed. Gailene made people feel seen and adored. She brought with her an undeniable light which she shared easily with others. She did not let a day go by without telling those she cared about that they were loved, because she knew that those three words are a precious balm to a wounded soul. A woman of unshakeable faith, Gailene had no fear of her journey’s end here on earth.
Predeceased by her parents Anne and Wilson Kerr, her sudden passing is mourned by her beloved husband, Joseph “Ted” Benkhe, her children Ryan Benkhe and Janna (Graeme) Logan, sister Janice (the late Graham) Prior, and three grandchildren Isley, Jack and Fiona Logan, along with the grandchildren of her heart, Jasmine Taschereau and Freyja Wang. The warmth of her gentle and loving presence will also be missed by numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of Gailene’s life will be arranged at a later date, on which family and friends are encouraged to meet that day not in sadness, but in gratitude and in awe of the beauty that surrounds us every day, if we only look for it - something Gailene did so well. She could find joy in a storm cloud, and wonder in a pebble. How blessed we are to have loved her!
