Franklin SMITH Obituary

FRANKLIN ROBERT SMITH September 4, 1956 - September 11, 2025 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank "Forty" Smith on September 11, 2025, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves behind Zorka, his wife of 42 years, sister Marg (Tom), brother Mick (Shelagh), nephew Michael, nieces Michelle, Pauline and Denise, and grand nieces and nephews Kaleb, Dylan, Chase, Emma, Gaby, Charlotte, and MJ. He was predeceased by his father Mike, his mother Olive, sister-in-law Naydene and niece Mary.

Frank's work career started as a night auditor at the Villa Hotel where he met Zorka his wife to be. He then became an accountant at the Villa, then moved on to accounting positions at Centra Gas and Morningstar Golf Course.

Frank loved sports, excelling in curling and softball. He showed his devotion to these sports by being treasurer and then president of Nanaimo Curling Club and long-time co-coach of Lantzville Hotel fastball team, the highlight being a Western Canadian title in 2004. Frank will be remembered as a big guy who was great to be around. He will be especially missed by his closest group of friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 8, 2025 at the Nanaim oCurling Club. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation
