It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elly Clewe Rose (née Jensen), who passed away on March 29, 2026, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, at the age of 70.
Elly was born on May 6, 1955, in Esbjerg, Denmark, and later made her home in Ladysmith, British Columbia. She became a proud Canadian citizen in her late 30s and shared 50 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Allan Rose.
She was a loving mother to Tara Rose and Kyle Rose (Jennifer), and a proud grandmother to Liam Hauer, Jensen Rose, and Charlise Rose. She is also survived by her older sister, Inge Larsen of Denmark, and her younger sister, Linda Gamble (Ray) of Hamilton, Ontario. Elly was deeply supported over the years by Allan’s sisters, Lynn Booth (Larry) and Sharon Moscrip (Roy), whose care and presence meant a great deal to her and the family.
Elly had a deep love for hummingbirds, plants, flowers, dogs, and fashion—she was rarely seen twice in the same outfit. She found joy in cooking alongside her husband for family and friends. She was well travelled and cherished visits to Denmark, as well as many trips throughout Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed collecting and surrounding herself with things that brought her comfort and happiness.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Elly held a strong faith in God’s promise of a better future and resurrection to a paradise on earth. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to members of her congregation for the kindness, care, and support they provided.
In her later years, Elly faced the challenges of dementia, which gradually changed parts of her personality. Despite this, she remained deeply loved by her family, who remember her for the life she lived and the love she gave.
Flowers are gratefully declined. There will be no formal service, by Elly’s request.
She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
