Allan Duncan Mercer
• October 4,1946–September 17, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Duncan on September 17th, at Nanaimo Regional Palliative Care Centre. He was surrounded by family and friends for the last few Peaceful days and his special nurses and Dr Calvin.
Duncan was born and raised in Vancouver and his heart never left Vancouver. A long successful career with BMO in Human Resources and later consulting in HR on the Island where he lived the last 26 years with his wife Michelle.
He is survived by his loving wife Michelle Berard of 33 years.
He’s predeceased by his parents, Kendall Mercer and Dorothy Mercer, nee Allan
He leaves behind his brother, Gregg Mercer, Nephew Steven Great Niece Riley and Niece Meredith. And His Dear Cousins Lynne and Daphne and Bill and he was predeceased by cousin Jean last year.
He will be greatly missed by his Berard family who loved him dearly, Gruncle adored Beau and Harlo and Isabella. Also so many lifelong “Dear “friends.
Duncan was gentle to the core and was respectful of everyone he encountered. He was kind, caring and thoughtful man. A sports enthusiast , he loved his cocker Spaniels, Trips to Mexico , walks on the ocean and conversations over golf or cards and a few beers.
As per his wishes, cremation will take place and no formal service is to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Nanaimo Alzheimer’s Society or Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation.
