Drew Watson, 71, of Salt Spring Island, BC, passed away on the evening of June 25th, 2020 at Sunridge Place Long Term Care facility in Duncan, BC.
He was born to parents Leslie and Grace Watson (Moss) on August 30, 1948 in Toronto, Ontario. Drew Ronald Ernest Watson graduated from Ontario Police College in 1973 and joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police, later becoming an Ontario Deputy Conservation Officer and finally owning a book store in Lindsay, Ontario, before retiring to Salt Spring Island, B.C.
He is survived by his son, Trevor Watson (Leanne Morrow) of Ottawa, Ontario, his sister Deborah Mitchell (Ian) of Markham, Ontario, nephew Joshua Mitchell and three grandchildren Bradley, Olivia and Charles.
He was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Grace Watson and his daughter Candice Lynn Watson.
Drew was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and training his golden retrievers. He was a dedicated Amateur (Ham) Radio operator, holding station license VE3 AAU in Ontario and VA7 DR in British Columbia, often volunteering for emergency communications and acting as Net Controller for various nets in Ontario and BC, including the BC Public Service Net.
Drew wished to be cremated and the family will scatter the ashes in Ontario at a later date. Those who wish to honour Drew may do so by making a donation to your local Humane Society or Conservation Authority or by simply taking a moment to enjoy the great outdoors with your family.
