Doug bravely fought Lymphoma in 2021 and passed away unexpectedly on June 4th 2022 from an infection. Doug was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. He was an honest man and prided himself on never telling a lie. He worked in both the car industry and in real estate. Many people enjoy their home today because of his integrity and expertise at negotiating the deal and getting the best price possible. In his whole life Doug never had a sick day or a day off work. He had never been in hospital, never had an antibiotic or an infection and the previous illness he had was when he was six years old and had scarlet fever.
Doug was involved in many social activities and had a large group of friends. He played pool, crib and poker both in groups and in tournaments. He did volunteer weekend roofing along with Curtis, Al and Chuck and many of our Nanaimo friends benefited from a new roof. They called themselves the Weekend Warriors.
Over the years we entertained many friends, at our home, on our sailboat, camping on the West Coast and having Karaoke in our backyard. Our first holiday was the year we met 1988 when we traveled to Australia, Hawaii and Fiji. Later we enjoyed trips to England and Scotland to visit my family and friends and he was loved by everyone. We enjoyed traveling in the US driving through Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and Nevada.
He was a meticulous gardener as was evident by his trimmed hedges, shrubs and immaculate flower beds.
Doug was a great friend to many people and misunderstood by a few. His love for me was total and unconditional, my loss is beyond words.
"Rest in peace my darling until we meet again"
