 DONALD MAURICE MOODY

It is with great sadness that the Moody family announce the death of Donald Maurice Moody on March 24,2023.  Don leaves behind his wife Donna of 53 years; his son Jason (Lesley) of Olds, AB; son Ryan of Nanaimo and daughter Sigurlin (Glenn) Erler of Nanoose Bay; along with 6 grandchildren, Denman, Liam and Brennan Moody as well as Declan, Sophia and Emma-Jane Erler.  He also leaves behind his brothers Doug (Bonnie) of Walnut Grove and Alan (Louise) of Maple Ridge.  Don will be greatly missed by his friends and family, who love him dearly.  

Born March 15, 1948, Don spent his childhood in Maple Ridge before proudly joining the Winnipeg Police Force for 8 years.  After obtaining his degree from the University of Manitoba, he and his family moved home to B.C.  He was a probation officer in Fernie for a short while before relocating to Vancouver Island in 1979.  Don enjoyed a successful award winning career at Nanaimo Correctional Centre retiring as warden in 2010.

Don was passionate about traveling and with his wife Donna traveled to many places around the world.  He enjoyed the outdoors and could be seen biking to and from work.  Don loved watching his family grow and could always been seen cheering them on at their games or activities.  

The family would like to thank Eden Gardens for their wonderful and supportive care.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations in honour of Don may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia.
