It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Gus Kongus November 16, 1944 - June 1, 2019. After a courageous battle with cancer, Don “kicked the cork” with his sister Wendy, son Warren and daughter Sarah by his side. Predeceased by his son Bryan Kongus (2017). Donald is survived by his sister Wendy Kongus (Lance), son Warren Kongus (Deon), daughter Sarah Crampton (Bryan) and grandchildren Maya, Martie, Hayden and Aliyah. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he will be lovingly remembered as the best grandpa ever. Don is probably best known for his years as owner of Highway Auctions in Cobble Hill and later in life as a “wheeler/dealer” of used “treasures” at most swap and shops up and down Vancouver Island and in Terrace, BC. No service by request. The family would like to thank the Chemainus Hospice, BC Cancer Agency and all of the nurses and doctors involved in his care (especially Dr. Hartford) over his final years of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don’s memory to the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society.
