In loving Memory of Dieter Bonkowski

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dieter Bonkowski on August 7, 2023 at the age of 80.  Dieter leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by Tina, his devoted wife of 56 years, daughters Teresa Al-Hajj (Vlad) and Tanya Whiting (Geoff), grandchildren Ripley, Maddy, Myah and Ben, and brother Waldi.

Dieter's life story is one of strength, love, and determination. He was born in Friedrichsbruch Poland in 1943, then traveled to Canada from Germany with his family in 1951. Fate intervened some years later when he met and married the girl next door, newly arrived from England.  Their shared path led them to Yellowpoint where they built their family home.

As locksmith for School District #68, Dieter's talents were not only evident in his work but also in the lasting impact he had on the lives he touched. His dedication and unwavering commitment were felt by all who crossed his path.

Dieter's passions knew no bounds. A gifted musician and videographer, his creative spirit was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Through his music and movies, he left behind a rich tapestry of artistry that will not soon be forgotten.

Yet, above all else, Dieter's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He wore the titles of husband, father, and grandfather with honor and devotion. His love was a quiet strength that enveloped his family, providing them with unwavering support and boundless affection.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Philip Anglican Church, Cedar on August 24th at 1:00. Let us remember him as a remarkable individual who graced our lives with his presence, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, warmth, and a deep sense of family. In our hearts, his memory will forever shine brightly.
