With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of David Maksymchuk. David died peacefully with his children by his side on April 20, 2021 in Nanaimo, B.C. He is survived by his daughter, Rhéa (Justin) and his son, Caleb (Jennifer), and his grandchildren Kylan, Ryann, and Adelyn. David is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Metro Maksymchuk. David was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and lived on the farm with his parents and siblings. His adult life took him from the Prairies to Vancouver Island. He loved the west coast weather and the ocean. David will be lovingly remembered by putting pencil to paper- figuring out solutions to tough problems, driving his boat to go fishing, prawning, and crabbing, and his lust for learning and knowledge. He adored his siblings and aunts; he loved their visits and phone calls. His greatest pleasure was watching his grandchildren play and he relished in their delights. David’s strength and independence stayed with him to the very end. A special thank you to his friends in Nanaimo who provided support and care in his final months. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
