It is with great sadness that the family of David “Dave” Humphrey announce his passing on May 25, 2022 at the age of 73, in Duncan British Columbia. His battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in life as he faced them daily with a smile. Although he may have felt differently, he always told his loved ones that he was “finer than frogs hair”!
Dave was born in High River to William and Catherine Humphrey on November 12, 1948. He lived a life full of adventure, travel and memorable times spent with family and friends. Dave had a gentle spirit and always gave his heart and soul to those he loved.
Dave married Paulette on November 14, 1970, and leaves to cherish their children Pauline (Jamey) Takeda, Connie (Trent) Smith and William Humphrey, grandchildren Dakota (Jacqui), Kourtni (Dalton), Kennan, Kira, Kole, Richard and David and his great granddaughter Lilliana. Dave married his second wife Georgina on February 14, 1986, and leaves to cherish their child Loretta (Dwayne) Neil, grandchildren Bentley, Kellar and Nixon.
Dave had a variation of careers in life and spent many of his final working years with Pincemin Fire Safety in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Immediately following his decline in health in 2009 he moved to Lake Cowichan with his brother Jim (Dawnette) and family.
Dave was predeceased by his loving parents William and Catherine; brother’s Gordon and Chris and sister Wilda. Dave is survived by his brother Jim, sister’s Linda, Heather and Bobbi as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in Lethbridge, Alberta. Details will be shared when finalized.
The family would like to thank Dad’s Doctors for all their care over the years. They as well would like to express their heart felt appreciation to the Cowichan Hospice for the incredible care Dad received in his final days and moments of life. Your kind compassionate and loving nurses assisted Dad and his children in a peaceful end to his journey.
