It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daryl Olaf Sanddar on January 29, 2026, at the age of 56. Daryl was born on April 11, 1969, in New Westminster, BC, and spent much of his life in Lake Cowichan and Campbell River.
Daryl is lovingly remembered by his mother Betty, sister Deanna (Steve), brother Darin, children Leighton (Heather) and Brittany (Frazer), nieces and nephews, and his cherished granddaughters Ella and Meadow.
Daryl will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his charismatic, straightforward nature. Early in his life, he dedicated himself to a successful career in falling—always seeking out the most challenging trees. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and especially treasured time spent with his granddaughters, who brought him immense joy.
Throughout the years, Daryl found purpose in giving back to the community and offering support to those who struggled. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Lake Cowichan Christian Fellowship Church, 10 King George St., Lake Cowichan, BC.
Donations can be made in Daryl’s memory to Second Chance Recovery, Campbell River, BC. www.secondchancerecovery.ca
