Claire ORR Obituary

Claire passed peacefully on 17 February 2022 while surrounded by her three oldest children Kimberly, Michael, Christine, and grandchild Wesley in Parksville, BC. Claire was born in Trois-Rivieres, QC.

Mom’s enjoyment in life was her family, helping fellow stroke survivors, Bingo, sewing and gardening. Claire had a great sense of humour and knew how to throw out one-liners that were funny, sarcastic, and flirty.

Mom started her nursing career with the nuns and then the Canadian Armed Forces as a WAC. She continued nursing throughout her adult life which brought her enjoyment and independence. (“The reason why our marriage survived is because of my career.”)

Claire married Edward Orr on her 23rd birthday and their marriage lasted 59 years upon the passing of our father in 2017.

Claire’s joie de vivre was immense and contagious which we all loved and inherited.

Mom had her own way of handling life’s difficulties with grace and humour. She was patient, kind, and firm when needed. An example of her humour was speaking to her left leg… “Come on bitch!” Her left leg weakness was a side effect of her stroke and on-going displaced humour much to the chagrin of the care aids and nurses.

Mom was survived by Kimberly (Randy), Michael (Deborah), Christine, Edward and Louise. Grandchildren Stephanie (David), Wesley (Amy), Melanie, Francis, Danielle (Nick) and Avery.

Great Grandchildren Mia, Mason, Wyatt, and Madison. Mom’s siblings Huguette, Micheline (Michel), Carmen, Violette, Marielle (Yvan), Christiane, Lucie, Claude (Carole) and Raymond (Claire).

Mom was predeceased by Edward Orr – Husband of 60 years, Cecilia Cote – Mother, Edgar Cote – Father, Manon – Sister, Lise – Sister, Claude Blain – Brother-in-law and great grandson Dominic.
