Cameron GARLAND Obituary

Cameron Brent Garland, age 62, of Ladysmith, B.C., peacefully passed away on December 16, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Cam was born on July 4th, 1960, to Kenneth and Judith Garland in Victoria B.C. As a military brat, Cam spent much of his childhood years moving around in areas of Victoria B.C. and Ottawa, Ont.

Cam received his red seal mechanic certification in 1991. After obtaining his certification, Cam worked in the auto repair industry for over 30 years. Cam was passionate about cars and working with his hands and loved what he did for a living.

In 2004, Cam met Dona at Discovery Honda in Duncan, B.C. and after a first date that never ended they were married on July 3rd, 2010 at their home in Fort St. John, B.C. Cam had two daughters, Laurissa and Brittany, and gained 4 bonus children through the marriage; Pam, Tricia, Sean, and Trevor. Together they shared 10 grandchildren; Taylor, Brittney, Savana, Brooklyn, Carter, Chase, Declan, Matthew, Asher, and Harlow.

In his younger years, his passion centered around race car driving and he was well known to many to many as Bam Bam Cam. In his mid to late adult years, Cam was a proud and devoted member of AA and spent much of his time mentoring others and sharing his experience, strength, and hope. He loved to keep busy and always had a project on the go. He enjoyed woodworking, house renovations, and was a self taught plumber and electrician. Cam could always be counted on by friends and family for any job asked of him. He really was a jack of all trades! Cam was also known for his quick wit, his sarcastic sense of humor, and could be counted on to be brutally honest with his opinions and advice.

In time spent away from work and his many projects, Cam enjoyed skiing, attending and watching Nascar races, travelling and camping. Cam rarely missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Cam had an incredible love for music and could play any instrument handed to him.

Cam is predeceased by his father, Kenneth Garland. He is survived by his wife, Dona Garland; his mother, Judith Southern; his sister, Karen Garland; his two daughters, Laurissa (Torry) Wannenwetsch, Brittany (Alyssa) Garland; his four bonus children, Pam (Teddy) Puska, Tricia Hooper, Sean Cinkant, and Trevor (Nichol) Cinkant; and his 10 grandchildren, Taylor, Brittney, Savana, Brooklyn, Carter, Chase, Declan, Matthew, Asher, and Harlow.

The celebration of life will be held at Eagles Hall, 921 1st Avenue, Ladysmith, B.C., on January 7th, 2023 at 1:00pm. Cam was always sporting Hawaiian shirts, so we respectfully ask that you wear bright colours in his honor if attending. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Canadian Cancer Society.
