It is with great sadness that we announce that Bud Pollock of Chemainus BC, passed away quietly on December 20, 2024 with his family at his side. He was 94. He grew up during the depression and war time years on the farm that his father started from the raw prairie as a homestead near Clairmont Alberta. He inherited his consistent, hard work ethic from his parents, Medley and Bessie. It was his nature to care for and support family. This was something that he shared with his loving older sister Phyllis who was a great influence on him and his brother. And there is no doubt that his sense of humour played a big part in him getting into mischief with his younger brother Bob as they forever sought out ways to have fun amidst the hard work.
Bud spent 14 adventure filled years in the RCAF, joining in 1948. Then for nearly 50 years he had a very accomplished career in many areas of the construction industry. Both Government and private industry.
In Calgary during 1952, he met a small town girl named Flora Bradford. In 1953 they were married. In 1954 their daughter Dolores was born in Calgary. In 1955 their son Rob was born while stationed in France.
Traveling, visiting family and friends, sightseeing and making new friends and later seeing grandchildren and great grandchildren was always a big part if life. It ,almost always involved camping, first in tents, then in home built campers (before anyone else had heard of them). Then the trusty old soft top tent trailer, and then a list of ever improving RVs.
For 35 years, first as family, then later just the two of them, they lived in Alberta, England, France, BC and the Yukon before finally settling down in Chemainus in 1988. Sadly Flora passed away in 2008
There followed some hard times, but he persevered.
Then he met and married Andrea with whom he found happiness and purpose once again. Together they enjoyed traveling, including trips to see family in Ireland and California. And finally quiet times together at home during his declining years.
A celebration of life date as being 8th Feb 2025 at the Legion in Chemainus from 1.00pm to 3.00pm
