Brian SCHOLZ Obituary

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Harold Scholz on March 2, 2021.  Brian was born in Woodstock, Ontario on November 24, 1946 and predeceased by his parents Edith (Fox) and Harold (Hal) Scholz.  Brian will be greatly missed by his partner of 24 years Carol Shergold, his daughter Erika Scholz and his son Michael Scholz, plus many long term friends.

After earning both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western University, Brian worked in the banking and technology sectors for several large corporations including IBM, TD Bank and Unisys.  He enjoyed playing a leadership role with a number of notable mid-size companies and a few developing tech firms.  His London and UWO memories run deep and his many friendships remain strong after almost 50 years.  He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his MBA classmates at his 50th reunion in 2024.

Brian and Carol moved to Nanaimo in October, 2010 after spending their careers working in Vancouver and then spent many happy years on the Island meeting wonderful new friends and Wintering in Palm Desert after full retirement.

Brian will be missed for his brilliant tech skills and his wonderful wit.   He was an avid golfer, had an encyclopedic knowledge of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music, enjoyed fine scotch and good wine, an avid reader, animal lover and chief cook/baker and BBQer!  He was a cohesive presence and always upped the tempo and brought out the spirit, good humour and laughter in all of us.  Those many people whose lives Brian touched will have lasting, fun memories of his quick wit, his jokes, laughter and great hosting skills.

Carol, Erika and Michael would like to thank the amazing team of doctors, nurses and hospital social workers whose exceptional care helped Brian and his family through his time spent in NRGH.

At Brian’s request, there will be no service at this time but a gathering of friends at a later time this year.

Donations in Brian’s Memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Red Cross.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
