Bernardus "Ben" Johannes Franciscus Maria WOUTERS

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bernardus, Johannes, Franciscus, Maria Wouters.

Ben was born on August 23, 1933 and passed away on September 7, 2025.

Ben was predeceased by his parents, Johan and Johanna Wouters. brothers Leo (Rieka), Richard (Cisca), Theo (Joyce), Hank (Mary), Yopie and sister Ann (Gys).

He is survived by his wife Joan for nearly 51 years. Brother John, sisters Maria (Paolo) Becia, Johanna Rossetto, Tina (Don) Whitehead, Elizabeth (Andy) De Luca.

and also numerous nieces and nephews.  

At the age of 23 Ben moved from Holland to Lethbridge, Alberta, with his brother Theo, and his brother Hank came a few months later.

Ben wanted to explore more of Canada and decided to move to Nanaimo, BC, and his brothers came along with him.

There he met his wife, Joan. Together they built a home in Nanoose Bay and built a beautiful terraced garden. 

Ben loved his cat Whitty, nature, camping, hiking, working in his garden and yard.

Ben was a good, kind person, hard-working, skilled woodworker and could repair almost anything that needed repairing.

There will be no service as to Ben's request.
