It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Marie Madsen, born August 5, 1938 in Lihme, Denmark. Anna Marie passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, age 87, at Stanford Seniors Village in Parksville.
Anna Marie was the loving wife of Ole Madsen, to whom she was married for 47 years before his passing in 2021. She was the mother of Stine and Lene, her two daughters, and son, Claus. Anna Marie was also the caring grandmother (“Mormor”) to her two grandsons, Misha and Luca, who adored her.
Anna Marie immigrated from Denmark in 1973 to marry Ole, where the two made British Columbia their home. While their shared life took them for a time to the US, they retired in beautiful Ladysmith, where they enjoyed 20 good years together.
Apart from her family and warm circle of friends, Anna Marie enjoyed textile arts, such as weaving and knitting, and was very active in local choirs. She also much enjoyed her association with the Danish community on Vancouver Island.
We gratefully acknowledge the care provided to Anna Marie during her two years at Stanford Seniors Village, where she was treated throughout with kindness and grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if you would like to make a donation, the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada be considered an option (Alzheimer.ca).
