Andrew “Andy” Sparacino passed away from septic arthritis at Nanaimo General Hospital in Nanaimo, British Columbia on April 6, 2023. He was 49 years old.
Andrew was born in Toronto, Ontario on March 2, 1974 at St. Michael’s Hospital to parents George and Jean (nee Buchanan) Sparacino. He attended St. Ignatius Elementary School in Agincourt before the family relocated to Calgary in 1984.
Once in Calgary, Andrew attended Saint Philip Elementary School, Saint Bonaventure Junior High, Saint Mary’s High School, the University of Calgary, and SAIT where he graduated from the film and video production program.
Andrew was a gifted creative: rapper, musician, comic, and actor of both stage and screen. He was a fixture of the Calgary indie music scene, often working as a bartender and landscaper to support his art. Andrew’s love for entertainment began at the early age of five years when he joined his parent's clown show as Patches the Clown. A few of his notable film credits include FUBAR and FUBAR II (Tron), Lloyd the Conqueror (Dagmar), and Operation Calgary Tower (Writer/Director).
Andrew was predeceased by his mother Jean and is survived by his father George. Andrew was a loving companion, gentle and understanding. He was a kind soul, a great listener, and a healer of the hurts of others. Those who were lucky enough to know him will miss his quick wit, twinkling eyes, and infectious smile. May he rest in peace.
