Agi CSOLLANY Obituary

Agi Zsuzsanna Csollany passed away June 19th, 2025 at the age of 71 at the Palliative Care unit of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Agi was an extraordinary soul. Despite considerable turmoil in her childhood and early adulthood, she was compassionate, caring, giving, playful, smart and funny. She had a heart of gold and enriched the lives of those around her.

In her professional life, she worked as a Registered Nurse first in hospitals and then in long term care facilities, and towards the end of her career became a Registered Foot Care Nurse. She was all about putting her patients first, and always strove to do something extra to make their lives a little better. She expanded her interest in health by completing a Registered Holistic Nutritionist program, using her knowledge of dietary choices not only in her own life and that of her spouse, but in providing advice to others. After retiring, she started working as a Companion Care Provider for seniors, helping to enhance their quality of life.

Agi was warm and empathetic, and would often reach out to console, counsel and support family, friends and acquaintances in need, using her wisdom, positivity, sense of humour and ability to always know exactly what to say. She showed concern for others and provided words of comfort to them even when, in her last years of life, her own health became a difficult challenge.

Agi loved the planet and sought ways to protect the environment. She took joy in walking through the forest and delighting in all of nature’s creations. She was always interested in learning about the natural world and had a love for birds, all wildlife, and domesticated animals. Through her explorations of the spiritual realm she sought out practices to not only connect to her own soul but also to help heal the Earth. She especially loved the ocean, and spent a great many vacations exploring the east coast of Canada with her husband when living in Quebec and Ontario. After several visits to Vancouver Island over the years, they moved to Nanaimo to enjoy retirement on the west coast.

Agi was very courageous in battling a very serious illness in her last five years. Despite the physical and emotional toll it took, she did not let it stop her from finding happiness in shared experiences with her husband and friends, or from connecting with strangers that she would walk by in the park. Not enough can be said about what a special person she was, and how many people she impacted in a positive way in her lifetime. She made the world a better place and left it far too soon.

She will be missed incredibly, but is surely one with the angels now. She leaves behind a brother and her husband who shared a blessed life with her for 38 years.
