Norman Harry Baildham

                                                                  May 11 1928 – Oct 31 2017

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norman Harry Baildham.

Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Grace Baildham and their three sons Vince, Kevin [Carmen] and Paul [Debbie] as well as his 5 grand children and 3 great grandchildren and predeceased by his daughter Christina and sister Ethel.

Norman was born is Liverpool England but spent most of his adult life living in Canada, since 1952. He served as part of the military police unit on a peace keeping mission while in Palestine, before immigrating to Canada in 1952. Norman and his family started their lives in Kitchener Ontario, but later made the cross-country trip and settled in Nanaimo making it their home.

Norman became a partner in Frank L Bott where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement.

Norman was an avid member of the Royal Canadian Legion #256, serving as a past president.  For many years you could hear his voice broadcasting the Remembrance Day parade or helping with the poppy fund.

What Norman always seemed to gravitate to mechanics, whether it was working on one of his sons dirt bikes or tinkering on a car, he just couldn’t help himself. He also loved to drive and to be in a car reliving his rally days, or heading to the west coast in the Westphalia.

Norman was warm, with a cheeky sense of humor, throwing out one liner with his pipe between his lips   hoping Grace didn’t catch him.

He is going to be greatly missed by all.
