Lorelie KRISTOFFERSON Obituary

Obituary:  Lorelie Jean Kristofferson

(November 9, 1953 – November 6, 2018)

Lorelie Kristofferson died peacefully in Ladysmith on November 6th.  She was a great joy and strength to her family and friends and has left behind many glorious memories, a passion for living, and much heeded sage advice.

Lorelie was born in Trail, BC in 1953 to John and Hilda Barrett.  She was first to help out.  She worked hard and she showed others what personal strength was.

Lorelie met Chris in Logan Lake and there was no doubt that they were meant to be together.  Lorelie and Chris were the perfect team. They created a strong family with close friends.

Before her children, Lorelie worked in the library in Castlegar, Weyerhauser pulp mill in Kamloops and PG Pulp and Northwood Pulp in Prince George.  Once her sons came along, she became very involved in their activities and volunteered at their schools.

Family was a passion for Lorelie and she taught herself genealogy.  She volunteered with the Nanaimo Family History Society and helped others to trace their family records.  She wrote articles for Ancestree, the club newsletter.  Lorelie was the one in the extended family who had a thorough and detailed record of our family history and recorded our current events.  She always knew everyone’s birthdates and it was a treat to have her sing you ‘Happy Birthday’ in style.

Lorelie was happiest in the outdoors, spending time with family, and taking grand adventures with Chris.

She was kind and generous and would stand up for what was right and for anyone who needed support.  Even during her battle with cancer Lorelie continued to live with excitement for a new adventure, with caring for others, and with her infectious sense of humour.  She was giving of herself to the last.

Lorelie was treasured by her husband of 46 years, Chris, her sons Kenn (Anna- Maria) and Carl, her mother Hilda Barrett, her sister Joan Wheeler (Stew McLean), along with numerous other family members and long-time friends.

At her request, a simple gathering will be held to celebrate Lorelie’s life.  Family and friends will be notified of the arrangements.
