April 2, 1952 ~ March 29, 2018 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Edward MACPHEE Obituary

Eddie (Edward) Henry MacPhee, 65, of Nanaimo passed away Thursday 29 March 2018 at NRGH following a brief struggle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his loving wife Lori and step daughters Christie & Kylee.

Born April 2, 1952, Ed grew up in Victoria & Nanaimo with his parents Bob & Betty MacPhee, his sister Cathy & brother James.

Ed met the love of his life Lori in 1989 and they married on April 17, 1996. They lived together with Lori’s children, Christie & Kylee, in Nanaimo.

Ed’s work took him from stock person at Safeway to Welder to Fisherman and then many years driving truck building roads and hauling logs.

Ed had a passion for sports.  After many years playing fastball locally, he took pride in teaching his step daughters how to play.  Later in life Ed’s favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing, going to watch baseball games with his friends and camping with his family at Spider Lake Springs Resort.  Ed & Lori describe Spider Springs as their “happy place” and looked forward to their summers there with friends and family.

Whether you knew him as Ed, Eddie Boy, Tatman, Fast Eddie, Little Ed, Eddie Haskell, or the Reverend, he was always known as a jokester.  All who knew him have at least one “Eddie Boy” story to tell.  He had a profound & endearing impact on his friends & family’s lives.  The stories will be told for years to come about how he made people laugh.

Even in his final days he did his best to keep his spirits high and make the people around him laugh, especially his wife with his cheeky sarcasm & pranks. His Doctors and Nurses also enjoyed his wit & humour.

Ed is predeceased by his father Bob MacPhee & Mother Betty MacPhee (Hamilton).

Ed is survived by his loving wife Lori MacPhee (Marshall); step daughters Christie (Marc) Leeks; Kylee (Ian) Perris; his cherished grandchildren Scarlett & Archer; Brother James (Monica) MacPhee; sister Cathy (John) Smith; nieces Elizabeth MacPhee-Kotowicz; Melissa MacPhee; Nephew Ryan MacPhee.  Numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews and an Aunt & Uncle also enhanced Ed’s life.

The family would like to send a special thank you to all of the Angels who work and volunteer on the palliative care ward of NRGH. You helped make Ed’s last days as comfortable as possible and your concern for our family’s comfort & support is greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of life will be held at Nanaimo Golf Club on Friday May 11th, 2018 at 1:00pm.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a local sports team of your choice.
