It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don Wuori, (July 21,1953 - September 18, 2108). He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Wendy Scott, his children Kirsten (J.P.) and Paul, his sister-in-laws Cheryl and Jennifer and his brother-in-laws Barry and Roy and his nephew Blake and niece Bronwyn.
Born in Niagara Falls, Don spent his childhood and teens years in St. Catherine’s before moving to Toronto and Guelph to complete his degree in landscape architecture.
Don moved to Vancouver in the early 1980’s. Don’s design talents shaped many projects and communities around the world as he worked in: China, Russia, Portugal, India, Malaysia, Syria and the United States. However, he was proudest of the places and spaces that he designed in the Lower Mainland for people to gather and connect. To name a few of the parks: Coal Harbour, George Wainborn, Vancouver School Board, and Crab.
The family greatly appreciates the excellent care that Don received from the staff at Nanaimo Regional Hospital in the medical, intensive care , and palliative care wards. The onset of liver disease was unexpected and progressed rapidly in spite of Don’s determination to regain his good health.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Harris Barn, 4140 Arthur Drive, Delta from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Donations, in Don’s memory, may be made to your charity of choice.
