Adrian passed quietly from this life supported by his daughter, Susan. Adrian loved the outdoors, dogs (especially Shelties), his work as an Agricultural Scientist, theatre, his church, CFL games (Edmonton Eskimos) and he especially enjoyed making and drinking beer. Born in the Liverpool area of the UK (don’t call him a Scouser), he studied a Reading University (undergraduate), he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hawaii (Master’s). He immigrated to Canada in 1963 and attended the University of Alberta where he received his PhD (Animal Sciences) and settled on the Prairies working as a Research Scientist for Agriculture Canada. A quiet man without pretense, he was extremely well respected for his scientific work both domestically and internationally. His love of science was only passed by his love of the outdoors and he could be relied upon to take every opportunity to enjoy long walks and hikes (inevitably dressed in shorts, hiking boots, a light jacket and his Tilley hat, regardless of the climate). He was also a deeply religious man, actively volunteering for his church and community throughout his life. Adrian, while quiet, was possessed of a dry wit and profound intellect appreciated by all who interacted with him. Above all else however, Adrian was a family man with a deep sense of loyalty and responsibility. He shall be missed greatly by those knew him and his family that loved him.
Adrian is survived by his sister Patricia, daughter Susan and son-in-law Chris, son Alan and grandchildren Damon and Cameryn. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the BCSPCA (www.spca.bc.ca) and the Dementia Society of Canada (http://www.dementiafriends.ca)
