Denise (Marie) Rounding, Lt.(N) Retired, 73

Denise Rounding (nee Varieur), age 73 of Elliot Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 18th. Predeceased by sisters Marcie and Janine, husband Garnet Willis Rounding, and daughter Michelle Dumais nee Rounding, Denise is survived by sister Rene Varieur of Kingston ON, son Scot (Aimee) of Nanaimo BC, and six grand children Miranda and Bradley Dumais of Elliot Lake, and Paige, Nolan, Olivia and Quinton Rounding of Nanaimo. She was born to the late Elois and Martine Varieur in Sudbury Ontario on March 19, 1944. Denise attended St Michael’s College(U of T), Toronto, where she completed her education and training as a Registered Nurse.

After retiring as a nurse, Denise found a place as an officer and instructor in the Canadian Forces Sea Cadet Organization. She retired after 8 years of contribution and dedication to the youth of Elliot Lake as a Commissioned Lieutenant (Navy).

With a passion for the arts, Denise was involved in Church choirs and enjoyed drawing and painting amongst other forms throughout her life.

With the loss of daughter Michelle in December 2016, Denise relocated to Nanaimo BC where she enjoyed an active and beautiful life with her son and grandchildren until her passing.

Denise requested a private burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her final days.
