It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Read (nee Winter) announce her passing after a courageous battle with cancer, on February 5, 2018, at the age of 59 years. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years, Ray, and her children, Fraser and Mitchell.   She will also be fondly remembered by her sisters, Helen and Margaret and her many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.   Catherine was predeceased by her parents Edward and Beverley Winter of Coquitlam, B.C. 

Catherine was a lovely person in every sense of the word.  She was a devoted wife and mother and the most loyal and thoughtful sister, cousin, relative, friend anyone could ever be lucky enough to have in their life.  Her children Fraser and Mitchell were her heart and joy.  She was an excellent cook, gardener and homemaker.  She was an intrepid traveller having explored much of the world over her lifetime.  She enjoyed skiing, biking, synchronized swimming, golfing, yoga and many other activities.  She worked as a lab tech for many years serving at various hospitals and clinics both in Canada and New Zealand.  She was deeply loved by all who knew her.  She will be terribly missed and beautifully remembered.

A Celebration of Cathy's life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Nanaimo Golf Course, 2800 Highland Blvd. Nanaimo, B.C. V9S 3N8.  Memorial donations in memory of Cathy may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
